The Books and Beasties program run by Marshalltown woman Ellen Harbaugh has seen supplies of one of its staples dwindle lately. The beasties - or Stuffed Animals that are paired with books to give out to area children - are running low.
A local organization has teamed with the Lee County Sheriff's Office to comfort children involved in traumatic situations. The Island Coast AIDS Network recently donated seven boxes of teddy bears and other Stuffed Animals to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
MADISON – From 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, children 2 through 6 are invited to bring their favorite Stuffed animal or doll for a "sleepover" at the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts, 9 Main St.
The Weber State University Davis campus is looking for donations of new Stuffed Animals to help children in need. The stuffed animals will be donated to the Weber-Morgan Children's Justice Center.
Four large bags of new Stuffed Animals were donated to the Windber Medical Center's Hospice unit, the OB department and the emergency room for any child who comes to those units.
Missy Stover said there were "smiles all around" on a cancer treatment floor at Children's Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, when Joplin firefighters distributed some of the hundreds of Stuffed Animals that were donated in memory of Kara Richardson.
