Tax hike to go to voters in February Morning Sentinel
SALEM - A half-cent sales tax increase for Salem residents will be placed on the primary ballot on Feb. 5. The tax increase was first proposed by Alderman Joe Hotze, who was seeking funding for a new swimming pool in Salem, but grew to include funds for road resurfacing, sidewalk improvements, community appearance, library operations, and general fund operations.
