Lord Thompson Manor (http://www.lordthompsonmanor.com), spread over 40 acres of tranquil grounds, has been designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, the landscape architect. Its spokesperson says, “Whether grand, intimate, or wildly extravagant, the Lord Thompson Manor has a wonderful way of bringing romance and individuality that ensures that a wedding is as perfect as any bride could dream of.” The serene grounds, with towering trees and quiet country paths, are about an hour’s drive from Boston as well as from Hartford, and around 3½ hours’ away from Manhattan. The Manor offers luxury, an environment of celebration, and feelings reminiscent of the times gone by. Lord Thompson Manor is located in the northeastern corner of Connecticut, an area “known for its rolling hills, walking, biking and cross-country ski trails, quaint antique shops, scenic byways and historic heritage,” as its spokesperson describes it in a few words, adding that this area is a “welcomed getaway from the stress of everyday life.” For the guests for weddings, the Manor offers six guest rooms. Four of these are luxury suites ensuite with private baths and warm fireplaces. It also offers a Master suite, known as the Thoroughbred Suite I. Breakfast consists of fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh ground coffee, fresh fruit, waffles, pancakes, and sausages; all served as per the convenience of the guests. The Manor also pampers guests during the Big Chill Weekends which are perfect for friends and family to get together. Its Weekend Wedding concept includes Rehearsal Dinner, Wedding Reception, After Parties, Barbecues, Brunch, Quiet walks, Bocce ' the Italian game similar to lawn bowling and much more. Wedding guests can also enjoy the spa facility at the Manor. “Guests convene at one place so that family and friends are able to enjoy one another’s company in a relaxed, private, and unhurried atmosphere,” says the Manor’s spokesperson. Adding further, the spokesperson says, “Our James Beard Foundation Celebrated Chefs and outstanding service provides the ultimate setting that ensures a wedding day as perfect as any bride can dream of.” In addition, the Manor also offers The Cottage House, its sister property, which has guest rooms in the form of a summerhouse.
