New England's Professional Tennis Team, The Boston Lobsters, Announces 2010 Team With Top Stars

Well-Known Tennis Pros James Blake, Jan-Michael Gambill, Eric Butorac, Coco Vandeweghe, and Raquel Kops-Jones to Play for Boston Lobsters. Visiting Marquee Pro Players to Include Anna Kournikova and Martina Hingis.

Middleton, MA, March 17, 2010 -- The WorldTeamTennis Pro League franchise Boston Lobsters, New England's professional tennis team, announced their 2010 team today, a team filled with leading players from the world of professional tennis..

Besides the previously announced Marquee draft of top tennis pro James Blake, the Boston Lobsters today protected Jan-Michael Gambill in the first round of the WTT roster draft. Gambill is known for his unusual double handed forehand and ranked as high as No. 14 in the world. He has defeated some of the world's greatest tennis players including Roger Federer, Carlos Moya, Lleyton Hewitt, Pete Sampras, and Andre Agassi. Jan-Michael has been a member of the Boston Lobsters for three years, playing both singles and doubles.

In the second round of the WTT draft, the Boston Lobsters selected Eric Butorac. He is a doubles specialist, having won seven doubles titles, ranked as high at Number 30 in the world. In the third round, Boston selected Coco Vandeweghe. Vandeweghe plays a strong double-handed backhand. She won the 2008 US Open Girls' Singles championship. A granddaughter of a past Miss America, she is the niece of former NBA star Kiki Vandeweghe who is now General Manager of the New Jersey Nets.

Finally, the Boston Lobsters protected 2009 player Raquel Kops-Jones. She has an outstanding Grand Slam record having reached the fourth round of the US Open and the 2nd round in the Australian Open. She has three doubles wins on the WTA Tour and has been ranked as high as Number 31 in the world. This will be her third year with the Lobsters.
