California Miramar University gets DETC Accreditation

California Miramar University is nationally accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), an accrediting commission based in Washington, D.C. established in 1926. The DETC Accrediting Commission defines, maintains, and promotes educational excellence in distance education institutions, reviewing an institution’s mission and objectives; student services; qualifications of administrators, faculty and staff; educational program objectives, curricula and materials; admission practices, and financial responsibility. The Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council is a recognized member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). California Miramar University got it’s accreditation on June 6, 2009. This action was taken after consideration of an extensive self-study prepared by California Miramar University and the report of a site visitation team. The five-year accreditation is the maximum permissible under DETC standards. Ilana Herring, coordinator for California Miramar University said, “Accreditation is one of the important factors in choosing an online school. You must make sure that your College/University is accredited by the right organization.
