Life Insurance Companies Concerned Over Swine Flu
November 5, 2009 - With this advance of the swine flu epidemic, life insurance companies are being more cautious with policies while at the time seeing a large rise in those seeking coverage.
The World Health Organization has assigned the Swine Flu a pandemic situation, and as the threat rises, families have begun to rethink who will take care of them in the event of their death. The Swine Flu has been the cause of death for many people this year - and not just the elderly and the very young.
According to Larry Klein, owner of FreeLifeTermQuote.com an online life insurance service, the spread of Swine Flu has caused a dramatic increase in life insurance inquiries. As the concerns rise, insurance providers may delay issuing a policy to recent flu vicims. The time to get life insurance is before the sign of any symptoms.
Some shoppers have realized that certain insurance companies will refuse to cover individuals that have recently had swine flu. While there are policies available for those who have recently had the Swine Flu, consumers are finding out the hard way that trying to purchase a policy after contracting the swine flu can put you on a waiting list for up to one year.
For consumers wanting to know how to get life insurance to protect them against not only the Swine Flu pandemic, but any other catastrophic life event, Klein suggests purchasing a policy before you experience an illness. By purchasing a policy before a major event, says Klein, buyers can save money on the policy while protecting their families.
The World Health Organization estimates that the flu affects up to 20% of Americans every year. The Swine Flu pandemic has taken on an unsuspecting age group. According to WHO, the most severe Swine Flu cases and deaths resulting from it have been people under fifty years old.
The WHO states that the virus can live outside the body for an extended period of time. This includes public surfaces such as doorknobs, shopping carts, and money. The best way to avoid the flu is to practice good hand washing techniques.
According to Klein, life insurance 'business is booming'. As more and more Americans are responding to the threat of the swine flu and are discovering their mortality, there is a growing demand.
