How It Works Traditional hand sanitizers and gels are based on old technology. They contain alcohol (normally 70%+), and a range of poisons based on heavy metals â€' arsenic, lead, tin, mercury, silver, copper, and derivatives thereof. Most will also will contain polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB’s).
