New Facebook app gives users real-life practice at running their own business for free
For immediate release
Denmark, (October 2009)---With the nation still struggling to rebound from the worst economic conditions in 34 years, the country has experienced a sudden boom in startup businesses. Well thanks to a new Facebook application, users can now try their luck as a business owner for free.
The application called Lemonade Quest, is a social network game where users can establish their own business.
“From planning to implementation and from resource management to business execution, Lemonade Quest provides a complete platform to unleash the user’s inner business man, while having loads of fun with their family and friends,” said Morten Olander, spokesman for Toon Quest, developer of the new application.
The application, targets all ages and those who love to play RPG games on Facebook that are geared more towards business activities.
The release of Lemonade Quest comes on the heels of a recent study by Money Magazine that shows the reemergence of lemonade stands for the unemployed to both earn cash as well as have a business of their own.
“It’s shocking to see how successful lemonade stands have been,” said Joseph Long, a professor at the University of California, who aided in the study.
Whether users’ success with Lemonade Quest is an indicator on how well they’ll do in business remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: it touches all areas needed to run a successful business.
“Lemonade Quest is all about fun,” Olander stressed. “You setup a lemonade stand and sell lemonade.”
In order to sell lemonade, players have to buy supplies, which include ice, lemons, sugar, and cups. The supplies are used to create a recipe. Players also have the option to advertise their lemonade products on Lemonade Quest.
“Everyday the player can pay an advertising fee with different choices in advertising being available,” Olander said. “Advertising increases the number of potential customers.”
Bryan Collins, 26, of Houston and an aspiring entrepreneur, said though he hasn’t played the game yet, he’s impressed with what it has to offer.
“I just like having fun, but I also love putting myself in a business situation and with this new app, not to mention a free app, I’ll be able to get into my zone anytime I want.”
Olander added that Lemonade Quest empowers people with real-life business situations with variable like weather and forces users to make good business decisions while going head up against their friends and others to see who will come out on top.
“Weather affects how well lemonade is sold,” Olander said. “Warm and hot days bring more customers to the stand than on cold, rainy days. The weather may change each day and does not seem to follow predictable patterns.”
This way, all users can see what they’re made of.
