Remember that link building through article submission can be a very effective way to increase you rankings because most search engines do look at the quantity and quality of links coming to and going out of your site when determining your position. You can include appropriate outbound links in your articles and each time your article is used elsewhere with your resource box you are gaining an additional link back to your site. However, before you can reach that stage of the game you need to spend some time on keyword research. Keyword research will help you with these link building strategies because it will help you to identify the most effective keywords to use in your articles. Additionally, you will want to use the selected keyword as the name of the link back to your page as well. In some cases, finding the right words for your articles will be a challenge because you are going to be looking for words and terms that meet specific criteria. Basically, you want the keywords selected to be things people are searching for. Ideally, the keyword will have about 2,000 searches every month or more. If that doesn’t sound like a lot, remember if you could convert just 5% of those searches into sales you’d be making 100 sales a month. And if you choose the right keyword and incorporate it into your link building effectively you can achieve that goal. Keep in mind that you also want a keyword that isn’t being used frequently by your competition. For example, if you choose Keyword A that attracts 6,000 searches a month but is appearing in 20,000 results, your chances of hitting the top spot even with great link building strategies is slim. On the other hand, if your keyword research turns up Keyword B which has 2,500 searches but only produces about 6,000 results you stand a much better chance of succeeding.
