Arts Briefly A Close Box Office Call
Now 'The Hangover' has given Pixar a headache. Warner Brothers executives are doing cartwheels over final box office figures that show their R-rated comedy was the No. 1 movie over the weekend after all, beating Pixar's 'Up' by a whisker. Warner said Monday morning that 'The Hangover,' co-financed and co-produced by Legendary Pictures, about a bachelor party gone wrong, sold $44.979 million in tickets at North American theaters over the weekend — as opposed to the projected $43.275 million. 'Up,' meanwhile, posted a final number of about $44.138 million, according to Walt Disney Pictures, which distributed the movie for its corporate cousin. Disney had projected that 'Up' would finish with $44.244 million in sales.
