Self taught engineer had 46 year Big Creek career The Fresno Bee
Maurice Maxwell 'Max' Wait was born in Hanford, died there Aug. 27, and although he never attended college, taught himself engineering to the point he oversaw part of the construction of the Sierra hydroelectric project at Big Creek in the 1950s.
