Al Franken, a longtime Democratic activist better known for his career as a comic entertainer, won the endorsement of Minnesota's Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party on Saturday for what is expected to be a competitive challenge against Republican Sen. Norm Coleman in this November's general election.
