Baltimore, MD, May 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Approximately 45 Johns Hopkins cancer patients and their caregivers joined the members of Maryland’s Biggest Bash at the Hackerman-Patz Pavilion for a night of family, socializing and pizza. The goal of the event was to provide an opportunity for families to come together, share experiences and socialize outside of the treatment environment.

“Cancer treatment is often all consuming and it can be very difficult for patients and their families to find time to socialize and enjoy every day activities” said Todd Wilhoit, Vice President, Maryland’s Biggest Bash. “One of the goals of our organization is to be able to provide opportunities of enjoyment for those touched by cancer.”

The Hackerman-Patz Pavilion provides temporary lodging for patients and their families traveling from out of town to receive cancer treatment at Johns Hopkins. Providing affordable short and long term lodging, the Pavilion offers a comfortable, homelike environment with close proximity to treatment facilities.

“Something as simple as gathering for a warm meal can make a difference in the lives of our patients and families.’ said Amanda Klass, Guest Services Coordinator. “Our mission would certainly not be fulfilled if it were not for volunteers such as Maryland’s Biggest Bash.”

Maryland’s Biggest Bash is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating cancer by providing funding to aid cancer research and awareness in the state of Maryland. The organization hosts a number of events in the Maryland community featuring family, enjoyment of music, food, sports activities and entertainment. All proceeds are donated to Maryland-based charities, including the American Cancer Society, Johns Hopkins University Hospital and the Wellness House of Annapolis.
